About the Owner

Maritime Mike's was founded by Michael Fappiano-Puttre, a lifelong recreational sailor and merchant mariner who started sailing at 3 years old and bought his first boat - a heavily neglected Pearson 34 in need of serious refit - at 15. 

That childhood passion fostered an interest in both commercial shipping and the machinery onboard massive oceangoing vessels and led Mike to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. 

After graduating MMA with a rare and rigorous dual major in Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation, and USCG licensure as an unlimited Mate and Engineer, Mike has worked in many sectors of the maritime industry, including as a mate on research/survey vessels and an engineer on offshore wind installation supply vessels (CTVs) and currently offshore drilling rigs in the U.S. Gulf on ultra deepwater drillships.
